Is that growth real, or is someone paying for it?
A protocol announces rewards. Capital arrives. Total value locked climbs, the chart follows, and for a few weeks it looks like a project finding its market. Then the emissions taper and every number goes back where it started ? because the capital was never there for the product. It was there for the subsidy.
This is the most common way people lose money on mid-cap crypto, and it is almost impossible to spot from a price chart. Bought growth and real adoption produce the same shape. They only diverge later.
What The Grove does
The Grove is a research desk that screens mid-cap tokens for growth that would survive its own incentives ending. It compares what a protocol is actually doing ? real usage, real revenue, how widely the token is held, whether the people building it are still shipping ? against what its price is doing.
When those move together, something real is happening. When the price runs well ahead of everything underneath it, the desk says so plainly, and says it about tokens that are up as often as tokens that are down. A token can have tripled and still fail this screen. That is the point of it.

It also will not fill a gap with a guess. Where a signal is unavailable the board reports it as unavailable rather than substituting a neutral score ? an unmeasured project is an unknown one, not an average one, and treating those as the same thing is how research quietly becomes fiction.

People holding or considering mid-sized crypto positions who want to know whether a project's momentum has anything behind it. It assumes you can read a TVL chart and want to know what it is hiding. It is not a signals service and it is not for anyone looking to be told what to do.
