How to read fear & greed

0–25 · Extreme Fear

Panic and selling. Historically, some of the best entries on quality assets appear when nobody wants to buy.

26–49 · Fear

Cautious, risk-off. The crowd is nervous but not capitulating.

50–74 · Greed

Optimism and inflows. Trends run, but chase-risk is rising.

75–100 · Extreme Greed

Euphoria. Often where risk is highest and pullbacks begin — time to protect gains, not FOMO in.

The index blends several signals — price volatility, market momentum and volume, social sentiment, and Bitcoin dominance — into one score. It's a contrarian gauge, not a buy or sell button: it tells you the crowd's emotional state, and the crowd is usually most wrong at the extremes.

Sentiment is context — not a strategy

Knowing the market is fearful doesn't tell you which coin to buy, whether it's safe, or how it fits your risk. That's the gap CryptoLwa fills: sentiment is one input, alongside a rug & honeypot check, a momentum scan, and your own portfolio risk. One mood ring won't make you money — a full read of the market might keep you in the game long enough to.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Crypto Fear & Greed Index?

A 0–100 gauge of crypto market sentiment. Low = extreme fear (worried, selling); high = extreme greed (possibly overheated). It condenses volatility, momentum, volume, and social sentiment into one number.

How is it calculated?

It aggregates several market signals — price volatility, market momentum and volume, social media sentiment, and Bitcoin dominance — into a single daily 0–100 score.

How do traders use it?

As a contrarian gauge: extreme fear can flag oversold conditions, extreme greed can flag froth. It's context, never a standalone signal — always do your own research.

Is it free?

Yes — the live index and history here are free, no login. A CryptoLwa membership adds live narratives, rotation heatmaps, and the agent suite.
