CHAPTER 12 · SAFETY & WHEN THINGS GO WRONG

Privacy, Security & Troubleshooting

How CryptoLwa keeps you and your money safe, the handful of habits that keep you safe, and calm, plain fixes for every little snag — including a one-click repair page for when a page misbehaves.

12.1Your privacy & security

The safest way to protect your money is to never touch it. CryptoLwa is built on that idea — the site shows, explains, and warns, but it never holds your keys, your funds, or your card number.

What we doWhat it means for you
No custodySwaps happen inside your own wallet through the embedded Uniswap widget. The site never holds your keys or your funds — it can't move a single coin for you.
PasswordlessYour account is just an email + a one-time code. There's no password to steal, and no password database that could ever be breached.
On-device by defaultThe Portfolio Manager, Gede's Ledger, and the Passage journal live only in your browser's local storage. They are never uploaded to a server or synced anywhere.
Payments by professionalsCards are handled by Stripe and crypto by Coinbase Commerce. The site never sees your card number — the payment page belongs to them, not us.
Minimal callsMarket data comes from public price APIs. There are no ad trackers following you around.
WANT THE FULL DETAIL?Everything above is spelled out on the /privacy page. Alongside it, every footer on the site links the Risk Disclaimer, Terms, Cookies, and Accessibility statements.
Maman Brigitte says"Your keys, your coins, your journal — they stay with you. I only ever hold the door open. What you carry through it is yours alone."

12.2Staying safe — what you should do

The site guards its side of the door. These are the simple habits that guard yours. None of them are hard — do them once and they become second nature.

  1. Lock your email inbox. Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) on your email account. Because sign-in is passwordless, your inbox is your login here — protect it like a front door.
  2. Audit before you buy. Always run a token through Baron Samedi before you buy it. Thirty seconds of checking beats a bad surprise.
  3. Never sign what you don't understand. If a wallet pop-up asks you to approve or sign something you didn't expect — especially "free" airdrops — stop. One bad signature can drain a whole wallet.
  4. Use a burner for farming. When you chase airdrops or connect to a new site, use a fresh, near-empty burner wallet — never your main one.
  5. Start small on real swaps. The first time you swap, send a tiny test amount. Confirm it arrives, then do the rest.
  6. Assume DMs are scams. Nobody from CryptoLwa will ever message you asking for your seed phrase or a payment. If someone does, it is always a scam — block and ignore.
THE ONE RULE THAT NEVER BENDSYour seed phrase is the master key to everything you own. No real support person, exchange, or app ever needs it. If anyone asks — a person, a pop-up, a "support agent" — the answer is no.

12.3Troubleshooting — quick fixes

Most snags fix themselves in under a minute. Find your problem below and follow the short fix. If one sends you to the repair page, that's /heal — covered next.

"My login code never arrived"

Check your spam / junk folder first — the sender address is new, so filters can grab it. Codes expire after 10 minutes, so if it's been a while, just request a fresh one. Corporate inboxes sometimes delay email by a minute; give it a moment before retrying.

"I paid but I'm still gated"

Card payments unlock instantly — simply sign out and back in to refresh your tier. Crypto unlocks once the blockchain confirms the payment, usually within a few minutes. Still locked after 15 minutes? Use the Support link in the footer and include your receipt.

"Prices say 'cached' / the live dot went grey"

The free price feeds occasionally rate-limit. When that happens the site quietly falls back to the last-known prices and marks them cached. Wait about a minute and refresh — it clears itself, no action needed.

"A page looks broken or half-loaded"

Do a hard reload: Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac. This throws away the cached copy and pulls a clean one. If it still looks wrong, visit /heal (see below).

"Notifications don't fire"

Grant the browser permission when it asks the first time. On iPhone, install the app through Safari's Add to Home Screen and keep it open in the foreground — iOS strictly limits background web-push.

"The app (PWA) won't install"

On desktop or Android, use Chrome, Edge, or Brave. On iPhone / iPad, only Safari can install a web app. In every case, make sure you're on https:// — installation is blocked on insecure connections.

"I want to reset everything"

Portfolio Manager: open ⚜ BRIGITTE → Clear all data (export your JSON first! — it's your only copy). Site-wide: visit /heal. Just log out: use Sign out in the header menu.

WHEN IN DOUBT, RELOAD THEN HEALNine times out of ten a hard reload fixes it. The tenth time, /heal does. Neither can hurt your data — your Portfolio and journal live in local storage and stay put.

12.4The /heal page — one-click repair

Sometimes, right after an update, your browser clings to old files and a page loads half-cooked. /heal is the fix-it button for exactly that. Visiting it does the cleanup for you, then sends you home clean.

The repair page at /heal
  1. The green check — appears the moment the cleanup finishes. Nothing for you to click; it runs on its own.
  2. "✓ cleared" status lines — confirm stale service workers and cached files are gone, then it redirects you home.
  3. Home button — if the auto-redirect doesn't fire, tap it to land on a fresh, clean home page.
  4. Portfolio · Narratives · Education — shortcut buttons straight to the rooms you use most.
  1. Go to the repair page. Type /heal after the site address, or follow the link from any "page looks broken" fix above.
  2. Let it work. It automatically unregisters stale service workers and clears cached files site-wide. You'll see the green ✓ status appear — no button to press.
  3. You're sent home clean. The page redirects you to a freshly-loaded home. If it doesn't, tap Home yourself.
  4. Use it whenever a page misbehaves after an update. It's completely safe to run any time — it only clears the browser's temporary cache, never your Portfolio or journal.
SAFE TO RUN, ALWAYS/heal touches only cached files and service workers — the throwaway copies your browser keeps for speed. Your account, your Portfolio Manager data, and your Passage journal are untouched.
