What does this app do?
Brigitte Portfolio is a private crypto tracker that runs entirely inside your browser. You type in the coins you own and how many — and the app fetches live prices, calculates your gains and losses, and draws a pie chart of where your money sits. There is no account, no login, and no company can see your data. Everything is saved on this device only.
1 Add your first coin
Find the ADD ASSET panel (right side, top). Type a coin symbol like BTC or ETH — a dropdown shows matches. Tap one. Then fill in how many coins you own and (optional) the price you paid each.
TIP: You can also type in the CMD> bar at the top and hit Enter.
2 Watch your prices update
Once added, the RIBBON at the top shows your portfolio total. The HOLDINGS table lists every coin with its live price, your quantity, total value, and profit. Prices refresh every 60 seconds automatically. Tap ↻ REFRESH for instant.
3 Read your P&L
P&L means Profit & Loss. Green = you're up (current price > your buy price). Red = you're down. The big number is dollars; the small one is the percentage. "Unrealized" means on paper — you haven't sold yet.
TIP: You only really lose or win money when you sell. Until then it's just numbers on a screen.
4 Set sell-target alerts
In any row, tap the ⚑ flag button. A box asks "alert when price reaches…?" Type a number, hit OK. When that price hits, your browser pings you with a notification — even if the tab is in the background.
TIP: The first time, your browser asks permission for notifications. Click Allow.
5 Buy more or sell some
Each row has small + and − buttons. + means I bought more: tells the app the new quantity and what you paid, so your average buy price stays accurate. − means I sold some: subtracts that amount. The 🗑 trash icon removes the coin entirely.
6 Allocation pie chart — what it tells you
The ALLOCATION panel (left side, top) shows what slice of your money is in each coin. If one slice is much bigger than the others, you're concentrated — big risk, big reward. A balanced pie spreads risk. The legend below lists each coin with its % and dollar value.
RULE OF THUMB: No single coin more than 30–40% if you want to sleep at night.
7 DCA calculator — when to use it
DCA = Dollar-Cost Averaging. Instead of buying all at once, you buy a fixed amount every week or month. This smooths out price swings. Use the DCA CALCULATOR (left side, bottom) to plan: enter your starting amount, the weekly contribution, how many weeks, and optionally today's price. It tells you what you'd have.
USE WHEN: You want to invest steadily without timing the market.
8 Backing up your data (Export / Import)
Your data lives in this browser only. If you clear the browser, you lose it. To back up, find the DATA panel (right side, bottom) and tap ⬇ EXPORT — a small JSON file downloads. Save it somewhere safe (cloud, email yourself). To restore on a new device, tap ⬆ IMPORT and pick that file.
WARNING: "WIPE LOCAL" deletes everything. Use only after you've exported.
9 Installing as an app on your phone
You can run this like a real app — no app store needed. Find the INSTALL APP panel (right side, middle) and tap ⚜ INSTALL.
iPhone / Safari: tap the Share icon at the bottom, then Add to Home Screen.
Android / Chrome: tap ⚜ INSTALL, or use browser menu → Install app.
Desktop Chrome/Edge: click the install icon in the address bar (looks like a screen).
🛠 TROUBLESHOOTING — common issues
The price says "—" or won't load
The price feed (DexScreener) couldn't find this coin. Try a different symbol, or paste the coin's contract address directly. Check the LIVE light at the top — if it's red, you're offline.
I lost my data after clearing my browser
Browser data lives on this device only. If you cleared cookies/site data, it's gone. Always EXPORT regularly (Step 8) so you can restore.
I added a coin but it's not in the table
Scroll the holdings table — it might be sorted to the bottom. Or tap a column header to re-sort. If still missing, the symbol didn't match — try again with the contract address.
I didn't get a target alert
Your browser must have notification permission granted (check site settings). The tab also has to be open for it to fire — closed tabs won't notify. iOS Safari sends alerts only after the app is installed to home screen.
"Install" button doesn't appear
Some browsers don't show the prompt right away — visit the page a couple of times first. On iPhone Safari, install is manual: Share → Add to Home Screen. Firefox desktop needs the PWAs extension.
P&L looks wrong
Your AVG BUY $ may be empty or incorrect. Use the + button to record each buy with its actual price — that recomputes the average automatically. If you never entered a buy price, P&L will read 0.
