CHAPTER 3 · WHAT'S MOVING, AND CAN I TRUST IT?

Research Desks

Four rooms that do the homework for you: which themes the money is chasing, which coins are worth a look, whether a token is a trap, and which brand-new projects are worth watching. Narratives and Picks are free to preview; Baron and Snake are Members-only. Learn to read all four, then always verify with Baron before you buy.

3.0The four desks, at a glance

These desks answer two questions every trader keeps asking: what is the market excited about right now? and can I actually trust this coin? Narratives and Picks are free to preview; Baron and Snake are Members-only (paid).

THREE WORDS YOU'LL SEE EVERYWHEREA contract address is a coin's unique ID number on the blockchain (a long string like 0x1f98…) — the only way to be sure you've got the real coin, not a copycat. Liquidity is how much money is parked ready to trade it: thin liquidity means you may not be able to sell without crashing the price. A narrative is a market theme, like "AI coins" or "Layer-2s," that money flows into together.

3.1Narratives — the heatmap of what's hot

Narratives (guided by Legba, who opens the gates) is a live map of which market themes money is rotating into — AI, DeFi, Layer-2s, memes, and more. It refreshes about every 15 minutes from live prices plus 8 news feeds.

Think of it as a weather map for money. Bright, hot-colored squares are where attention and cash are flowing right now; dull squares are quiet. You don't need to guess the mood — the grid shows it.

  1. Five tabs — Heatmap (default), Top Picks, Headlines, Market Wire, Sources.
  2. Three sort buttons — reorder the grid By Market Cap, By Strongest Cell, or By 24h Change.
  3. Fear & Greed + leaders — the market's mood number and the narrative tiles leading right now.
  4. A cell — rows are the top ~30 assets, columns ~15 narratives; each square is a 0–100 score, brighter = hotter.
  5. Headline modal — click any cell to open the recent news behind that asset + narrative.

How to read it — the happy path

  1. Open the page. Go to /narratives. The ⚜ Heatmap tab is already showing — a grid of colored squares.
  2. Scan for the bright squares. Your eye is doing the work: the brightest, hottest-colored cells are where money and news are concentrated right now. Dull grey cells are quiet.
  3. Sort to line them up. Tap By Strongest Cell to float the hottest asset+narrative pairs to the top, or By 24h Change to see what just moved. By Market Cap is the calm default order.
  4. Click a hot cell. A modal opens showing the recent headlines behind that pairing — the actual news driving the heat. This is how you tell real momentum from noise.
  5. Cross-check the news tabs. Open 📰 Headlines and 🌐 Market Wire to read the broader story; 📡 Sources lists the feeds so you can judge the reporting yourself.
USE IT AS A COMPASS, NOT A BUY BUTTONNarratives tells you where the wind is blowing. A hot theme is a place to start looking — not a signal to buy any single coin. Pair it with Picks (below) to find which coins in a hot narrative are actually worth a look.

3.2Picks — a vetted board of coins

Picks (guided by Libo) is a curated board of coins sorted into size tiers, each scored and flagged for risk. It does the first pass of screening so you don't stare at 10,000 tickers.

Coins are grouped by market cap — the total value of all coins in circulation, a rough measure of size and safety. Bigger usually means steadier; smaller means more room to move, and more room to fail.

TierSize rangeCharacter
High-cap≥ $10BEstablished, slower, lower rug risk.
Mid-cap$1B – $10BGrowing, more volatile.
Low-cap$60M – $1BSmall, fast, higher risk.

  1. Verdict badge — STRONG BUY (green), BUY, WATCH (gold), or AVOID (red): the desk's one-word read.
  2. Libo score bar — 0–100 rating; the fuller and more gold, the stronger the pick.
  3. Risk flags — plain warnings like WASH-TRADE RISK, DILUTION, 95% BELOW ATH, SELL PRESSURE — or "✓ No red flags."
  4. Contract row — the coin's ID with a Copy button and a Verify link to the block explorer.
  5. Refresh + regime ribbon — re-scan the board; the ribbon shows total cap, BTC dominance, 24h change, and breadth.
  6. Gamble tier + 20 To Watch — a clearly-warned micro-cap list and a watchlist of near-misses.

How to use it

  1. Open the board. Go to /picks. Read the regime ribbon at the top first — it tells you the market's overall weather before you judge any single coin.
  2. Pick your tier. Newer? Stay in high-cap and mid-cap. The Gamble tier is separate and clearly warned — treat anything there as money you can fully afford to lose.
  3. Read each card top to bottom. Verdict badge, then the Libo score bar, then the risk flags. Green "✓ No red flags" is reassuring; a red flag like DILUTION or SELL PRESSURE is a reason to slow down.
  4. Verify the contract. Hit Copy to grab the exact contract address, and Verify to open it on the block explorer — so you buy the real coin, not a copycat.
  5. Refresh when you return. Tap Refresh to re-scan; check the 20 To Watch list and the methodology panel to understand how scores are built.
A HIGH SCORE IS NOT A PROMISEA 90-score coin can still go to zero. The Libo score ranks quality, not certainty — no screen can see the future. Position sizing matters more than pick quality: a great pick with too big a bet can still wreck you, while a modest bet survives a wrong call. Never skip the risk flags, and never buy on the badge alone.

3.3Baron Samedi — the token audit

Baron Samedi (keeper of the crossroads between safe and dangerous) checks any single token for traps. Paste a contract address, and Baron reads it for the tricks scammers use.

Two dangers he hunts for: a honeypot — a token you can buy but the code secretly won't let you sell — and a rug pull, where the team drains the liquidity and vanishes. Baron reads the contract's code and money flows to spot these before you're stuck.

MEMBERS-ONLY DESKBaron is a Members-only (paid) feature. Anyone can read here how it works, but running a live audit needs a membership. See membership options.

  2. Chain dropdown — Ethereum, BNB Chain, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, Avalanche, or Solana.
  3. Demo chips — one-tap examples (LINK, PEPE, BONK, WIF) to see how a result looks.
  4. Verdict + safety score — SAFE (green), USE CAUTION (gold), HIGH RISK (red), or RUG CONFIRMED, plus a 0–100 bar.
  5. Forensic findings — honeypot checks, dilution, ownership/mint traps, and liquidity depth, each spelled out.
  6. Counterparty Intel + contract row — who controls the supply, with Copy and a Verify link to the explorer.

Run an audit — the happy path

  1. Paste the address. Go to /baron and paste the token's contract address into the input. New to this? Tap a demo chip like PEPE to watch a full result appear.
  2. Pick the chain. Choose the right network in the dropdown. Paste a Solana address and the chain auto-selects for you — no guessing.
  3. Click Audit. Baron scans the contract and returns a verdict in a few seconds.
  4. Read the verdict, score, and every finding. Start with the badge, glance at the safety score, then read each forensic finding and the Counterparty Intel line about who holds the supply.
  5. Verify it yourself. Click Verify to open the contract on the block explorer and confirm with your own eyes. Trust, then check.
RUN BARON BEFORE YOU APE — EVERY TIMEBefore you buy any token you don't already know cold, run it through Baron. A clean scan is not a guarantee — code can hide new tricks and teams can turn — so always DYOR (do your own research). But skipping the scan is how people walk straight into honeypots and rugs.

3.4Snake — the new-project hunter

Snake scans many blockchains and ranks brand-new projects by how much money is flowing in, how safe the contract is, whether it fits a hot narrative, and the team's pedigree. It's how you find something before the crowd — safely.

Where Picks vets established coins, Snake goes hunting at the edges for the just-launched. It also does something rarer: it shows you what it threw out — the honeypots and scams it filtered — so you learn the shape of danger.

MEMBERS-ONLY DESKSnake is a Members-only (paid) feature. Anyone can read here how it works, but running a live scan needs a membership. See membership options.

How to hunt with Snake

  1. Load a report. Go to /snake. In a hurry? Tap Refresh cached for the last scan instantly. Want the freshest read? Tap Run full scan and watch the progress bar.
  2. Start on Top Picks. The 🐍 Top Picks tab shows Snake's best-ranked new projects. Narrow by size with the Low / Mid / High Cap tabs.
  3. Read each card fully. Check the liquidity score and legitimacy grade, then the positive signals, affiliations, warnings, and the AI thesis at the end.
  4. Study the Danger Zone. Open ⚠ Danger Zone to see the honeypots, drainers, and impersonators Snake caught — this teaches you what a scam looks like.
  5. Verify before you act. Copy any contract you like and run it through Baron (3.3) yourself before you go anywhere near buying.
SNAKE IS A SHORTLIST, NOT ADVICESnake hands you a starting list of candidates that passed its filters — it is not a recommendation to buy. Brand-new projects are the riskiest corner of crypto: even a top-ranked pick can fail. Use it to find things to research, then do the research.

3.5Putting the four together

Between them, these four desks answer the whole opening question: what's moving, and can I trust it?

  1. What's the market chasing? Open Narratives to see which themes are hot.
  2. Which coins in that theme look strong? Check Picks for vetted names and their risk flags — or Snake if you're hunting brand-new projects.
  3. Can I trust this specific token? Run it through Baron Samedi before you go further.
Maman Brigitte saysThe desks can point and warn, but they cannot care about your money the way you do. Read the flags. Run the audit. Verify the contract with your own eyes. And whatever any green badge says — always verify a contract with Baron before you buy.
